Green Car Guide

About Green Car Guide

Green Car Guide helps people in Australia understand greener driving. We publish guides to electric cars, including the types of EV, range and batteries, buying a used EV and working out running costs; to charging, including charging at home, public charging and road trips, apartments and rentals, and charging with solar; and to efficient driving, including hybrids, fuel-saving habits, comparing car efficiency and the EV fringe benefits tax exemption. Our charge time estimator gives a rough charging time and cost from the numbers you enter.

Why we exist

Information about electric and efficient cars is often scattered, technical or written to sell something. We want to give everyday drivers a clear, neutral starting point, based on official Australian sources, so they can make their own decisions with confidence.

How we work

We research every guide from primary sources, mainly the Australian Government's Green Vehicle Guide, energy.gov.au, the Australian Taxation Office, the New Vehicle Efficiency Standard Regulator and state energy agencies, and we list our sources on each page. We rewrite everything in our own words. We never invent statistics, prices, quotes or testimonials, and where something depends on your circumstances we say so. We review guides regularly and update them when rules change.

Independence

Green Car Guide (greencar.com.au) is an independent information site. We are not a car dealer, manufacturer, charging network, electrician, leasing company or government agency. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or operated by any brand, business or agency named on this site, any previous operator of this domain, or any business with a similar name. Brands appear in image captions only because they're visible in the photos.

General information only

Our guides are general information, not financial, tax, legal or electrical advice. Check official sources for the latest rules, use licensed electricians for electrical work, and get professional advice before making financial decisions such as entering a novated lease.
